ACC 5010: Foundations of Financial and Managerial Accounting
What do students learn in your classes? What is the expected outcome?
Students will gain knowledge about how to prepare and analyze financial statements and how to use various managerial accounting tools for internal decision-making.
Why did you start teaching?
I enjoy helping people learn and develop new skills.
What advice would you give to those considering the UNCP online MBA program?
Fully commit before you start—make sure you can devote the time necessary to be successful. Make connections with fellow classmates while in the program.
What qualities make someone particularly successful in business?
Determination, excellent communication skills and, of course, a good working knowledge of accounting!
What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in business face today?
Rapid change is a key challenge. You have to be willing to continuously learn new things and develop new skills to be successful.
What is the one book you think everyone should read?
I cannot pick one—I think everyone should read as many books as possible!
